Collective Ground Adjustment

HAVE YOU CHECKED YOUR COLLECTIVE FRICTION LATELY? I just received a couple of photos of the set screws used to make adjustment of the ground adjustable friction on the collective.
A previous article, on Collective Bounce, explained how important it is to keep this friction in the required range.

Many aircraft it seems have never had this friction checked or adjusted. enclosed are the photos sent to me showing damaged these set-screws have become making proper adjustment impossible.

On 60 through 63-130002 serial number Huey's the friction is done through shimming. For these early aircraft look in TM 55-1520-210-23-2 page 11-17 paragraph d. If you have any questions do not hesitate to reach out to us at uh1ops@gmail.com.
